Coron Palawan

Im not a water loving person and the type that would spend hours submerged in the salty waters but I do appreciate the water. However, as I got the chance to visit more places in the Philippines, I slowly became converted and one of the places that lured me into loving the waters was Palawan.

The first place I got to visit in Palawan was during my high school days and it was in Puerto Princesa, the premier tourist destination of the province. I got to see the beauty of Palawan before and I did not thought that there was even more to explore in Palawan.

Coron is part of the Calamianes group of islands, situated north of palawan. The town's laid back setting and it's natural beauty are fast becoming magnets that attract local and foreign tourists alike. As they said, Coron boomed its tourism last year so with my cousins and hubby in tow, we headed to Coron for a 4 days - 3 nights adventure hoping to catch a glimpse of what the place has to offer.

at terminal 3

When we arrive in Busuanga airport via PAL, accredited service of PAL is waiting for us, we pay P300 per head for the service for the back and fort airport transfer. We arrived lunch on our first day and we we're excited when we reached the Coron town. Just an fyi, there's no hotel (i mean like 3 or 5 star hotel) in this small town, only lodges and inns, after checking several lodges, we chose to stay at Coron Sunrise Inn because of its cleanliness and cozy style. We unpacked our things and headed to town to eat lunch. It's an interesting trip for the walkaholics like me to explore the unique charm of Coron and wonder how people live there and how the hell they entertain themselves everyday! hehe

On the day of our first island hopping tour, Manong anton arrange our tour, we rented the banca for P1,500 exclusive of the entrances and food so before leaving the pier, we shop for our baon in the market.

Places we visit on our first island hopping and their entrances:

Cayangan lake - P200.00

Twin Lagoon - Free

Barracuda Lake - P100.00

Banol Beach - P100.00

Siete Pecados - P100.00

Atwayan Island - 100.00

Gunboat shipwreck - Free

Maquinit hotspring - P100.00

CYC Island - Free

Imagine the rate of the entrance of each tourist spot, you will wonder why they collect such a big amount for that place as if they're the one who maintain the cleanliness of the place. Anyway, if you're a nature loving person, you'll definitely love the scenic place and enjoy the water which I did.

On the 2nd day of our island hopping. Our first itinerary is to drop by at the market for our food. More than halfway to the market, though, it started to rain and we were worried that the waves are not safe to sail in, it tends to be erratic and for sure it is dangerous for all of us but luckily the rain subsided. We bought food for our lunch like liempo, fish, itlog na pula etc, good thing the bankeros will be the one to cook for us.

This time we’re going to 3 islands only, the rental for the banka is around P3,500 to 4,000 because its too far from the town, make the most of your bargaining powers when talking to the boatmen and since we’re only five they give us discount, we pay P3,500 only.

At around 7:00 am, our tour guide Manong loaded our picnic basket to our banca then we left for the pier located at the back of the Coron Public Market. It was a smooth trip going to the island. When we reach the malcapuya island, it’s like entering the paradise. Iba talaga! we spent our whole day in malcapuya island.

Island we visit on our 2nd island hopping tour and the entrances:

Malcapuya island – P150.00 (the best island)

Banana Island – P200.00

Malaroyroy beach – Free

On the third day, we went to Mt. tapyas which is a 700++ steps up a hill with a giant white cross and a breathtaking view of the town and the neighboring islands (just like Tops in Cebu). Tourists usually go up in time for sunrise or sunset. We started out around 5:30am, and made it to the top in time for sunrise. (guaranteed months work-out and penitence in one! Hehe). After the tapyas, we shop for our pasalubong.

wala pa ko sa kalahati ng mt. tapyas nyan, pahinga muna kasi sobrang nkakapagod..

I had so much fun with our island hopping tour, going to beach and just float in the crystal clear waters of Coron.

Regarding restaurants. In our 4 days-3 nights stay in Coron, we tried all resto’s in town. First we try the Coron Bistro…the most popular and a small restaurant-bar serving mostly American food. Prices are a bit pricey for this small town. Then we also try kawayanan grill, Lolo Nono’y Food Station, and then the resto near the market…

At Coron Bistro resto
On our last night, we order in our lodge, our last sumptuous meal (crab, lapu-lapu, pork and deserts).
We had to wake up early (4th day) the following day for our flight back home. As I was seated comfortably inside the plane, all experience during our trip flashed back in my mind. The memories of the astonishing waters of malcapuya Island were in my mind when the plane took off from the runway. What I don’t like in Coron is all the things are quite expensive even the food, pasalubong like kasuy that cost P500.00 (mas mura pa sa antipolo), then the danggit (syempre I bought some dried fish kasi bilin yun ng mother-in-law ko). And also t-shirts from souvenir shop which is our pasalubong to my in-laws.

cebu pac..

I just read from one of the bloggers her rant about cebu pacific.. This is the link:

http://www.marketmanila.com/archives/cebu-pacific-delays-or-is-it-cebu-pathetic-airways

and another link:

http://www.pinoytux.com/rantings/cebu-pacific-airlines-is-evil

That's why i don't wanna try cebu pacific. Since my family and other relatives are mabuhay miles member and since from the start na nag-travel ako with family or with other relatives, PAL na talaga kami nagpapa-book. I also heard from one of my hubby's cousin na nag-try ng cebu pac dahil daw promo... after riding the plane, she said she will never ride again with cebu pac kasi para ka daw sumakay ng bus na lumilipad...hehe...

With PAL, we never experience such delays, comfortable ka pa and you will reach your destination on time. If delays happen with PAL especially if its abroad, and if you are a regular customer, sometimes they will give free round trip plane ticket depends on your destination.

Weekend at Antipolo and Serendra

We leave Las Piñas by 6am to go to Antipolo and attend Mass, since it's too early, i didn't wake up badz and tami to join us.

When we get there, parking is a bit difficult and while there are a lot of friendly folks willing to help you find a place to park and in return, they will convince you to buy their goods, good thing, Lola is with us, we got the benefit of parking beside the church because we have a senior citizen.. hehe

After paying a visit to the church and buying lots of pasalubongs, we headed to Fort Bonifacio and we were looking for a restaurant in Serendra. There are so many choices walking up in Serendra, we chose to dine at Abe's restaurant for our lunch and since we're waiting for Tta Ne's family who parks at Market Market, we have no choice but to transfer to Market Market.

at Serendra

Lola loves buffet and since we don't know if Kamayan has branch in Market Market, we learned that Kamay-kainan is the only available resto that serves an eat-all-you-can buffet aside from Brazil Brazil in Serendra.

With Kamay-Kainan, The food was okay, not bad for a typical Filipino dishes except for the Tempura. It was really dissapointing to get this kind of service. On the tempura station, the service is totally different, you have to order at your assigned waiter and wait until your turn so it will take you hours to wait just to have a tempura. Tsk. Tsk.

After having lunch, we shop clothes at Market Market and there's a mother's day promo that everytime you buy worth P500, you get a free photo with 4 shots and since we shop for more than P5,000, we have 10 coupons to use for our photo shoot, here are some:

Syempre yung mga pics lang na nandon ako yung nilagay ko d2. Sabi nung may-ari nung photo booth suki na daw kami kasi sa lahat ng nagpa-picture kami yung pinakamaraming coupons...

After our tiring photoshoot, we go back to Serendra for our merienda and this time in Conti's, one of our fave bakeshop, suki na kami d2 sa Paranaque...

Thoughts in Mind

  • Its already friday and i wanna be home early.
  • I want to eat maki and salad and mango and chocolates (naglilihi na ata ako...hehe).
  • I need a reflexology massage, my back hurts after having a hard swedish massage in My Spa last monday.
  • Need to confirm the booking for May 23-25 Palawan tour, and this time in Coron Island. Woohoo!
  • Need to go to mall for Badz shorts.
  • I need a pair of aqua shoes.
  • I just want to be in bed now, read a good book and enjoy the weather...
  • That's why i had to stop this non-sense blog and go home. hehe
Oh by the way, as a tradition for our family to attend the mass and visit the Antipolo church every May, we'll go there on Sunday and also for the celebration of Mother's day.

Happy Mother's Day to all those great MOMS!!!

Twilight series

Swine flu in HK

HONG KONG - Hong Kong officials were making frantic efforts Saturday to track down anyone who had contact with a Mexican who tested positive for swine flu, with the government calling it a "critical moment."

The city was placed on its highest health alert after the 25-year-old man tested positive for the A(H1N1) virus on Friday, the first confirmed case of swine flu in Asia.

With this news, how can we travel to HK?

March pa lang. plano na nmin mag-HK by October, as celebration for our wedding anniv and also Badz birthday, i also want to bring Tami sa Disneyland para nman ma-experience nya rin mag-travel abroad like me, yun nga lang si Tami as early as 2 nkakapag-travel na, ako mga elementary na yata nag-start mag-travel.

My aunt also wants to join, we're going to have a group tour, (tta emma, kuya bing, tta baby, marvil, cj, kaming-tatlo nila Badz, sila Tta Ne di ko sure kung sasama pero mukang gusto nila, si lola is looking for sponsor...haha) o ayan kit madadala na si Tami kasama pa si cj sa disneyland...

Kaso pano nman kami pupunta kung my swine flu sa HK? buti na nga lang hindi pa kami nagpapa-book sa PAL tutal matagal pa nman. Anyway. let's see kung anong mangyayari in the next few months...local tour na lang muna...
