Guide to a Better Life

Its Saturday again!

After having Jollibee Chicken Spaghetti for our lunch today, im still craving for some Fresh Spring Rolls, talk about Vietnamese food... arrggghh.... Anyway, just want to share what i received from my email and because i know he is such an inspiration to others and im inspired as well. Actually ive known this guy for quite sometime (joke) and i watched his video in Youtube months ago. Here it is:

This is amazing, Randy Pausch 47 yrs old, A computer Sc. lecturer from Mellon University he died of pancreatic cancer in 2008, but wrote a book ‘The last lecture” before then, one of the bestsellers in 2007. What a legacy to leave behind

In a letter to his wife Jai and his children, Dylan, Logan , and Chloe, he wrote this beautiful "guide to a better life" for his wife and children to follow.
May you be blessed by his insight.

POINTS ON HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE

Personality:
1.    Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
2. Don't have negative thoughts of things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment
3. Don't over do; keep your limits
4. Don't take yourself so seriously; no one else does
5. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip
6. Dream more while you are awake
7. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need..
8. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner of his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
9. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
10. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present
11. No one is in charge of your happiness except you
12. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn.
Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
13. Smile and laugh more
14. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Community:
15. Call your family often
16. Each day give something good to others
17. Forgive everyone for everything
18. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6
19. Try to make at least three people smile each day
20. What other people think of you is none of your business
21. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your family and friends will. Stay in touch.

Life:
22. Put GOD first in anything and everything that you think, say and do.
23. GOD heals everything
24. Do the right things
25. However good or bad a situation is, it will change
26. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up
27. The best is yet to come
28. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful
29. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it
30. If you know GOD you will always be happy. So, be happy.

While you practice all of the above, share this knowledge with the people you love, people you school with,
people you play with, people you work with and people you live with.
Not only will it enrich YOUR life, but also that of those around you.

 Remember,

GOOD THINGS ARE FOR US TO SHARE!!!!!!

Yaya's Debut

Our new househelp had her debut last Monday. I believe that 18th birthday is one of the important birthday in every girl's life. Since i dont want her to spend her salary, we gave her just a very simple celebration.

I went to Aling Lucy's Panciteria located in Real St. across the Jollibee and Starbucks in Las Pinas and bought something for her birthday. I instructed the cashier to have it delivered in our house around 3PM because im going to bring the cake with me. I pay then went to Red Ribbon for the cake.

We've known Aling Lucy's Panciteria since high school and college days, if we have programs in the school and we are assigned to bring food, Aling Lucy's was the top choice and even now especially in Seton School, Aling Lucy's Panciteria is the place to go to when it comes to take-out order of food.

The sizes.

They offer all kinds of Pancit here. Before going here, i asked hubby what pancit he wants to eat and he said to order the Pancit Canton. Para maiba din kasi lagi na lang Bihon ang order namin.

They also renovated the area and you can dine in also there. They serve merienda sizes and they also have lots of food to offer. I find the place so clean and for sure the food aside from the pancit is delish because you can see the tables occupied everytime i go there.

Here's what i bought for the birthday celebration of Tami's yaya:

Pancit Canton (good for 15 persons)

See the toppings?

This is what i like with Aling Lucy's, aside from the presentation and the way they pack it, for sure malinis yung food because its the first thing that the customer will notice. They also put lots of toppings and ill tell you that is very tasty. Its really worth your money.

Puto

and the dedication cake that i bought from Red Ribbon..

The birthday celebrant - very prepared. hehe

Before we start to chow, i asked her to blow the candle first and took some pictures for her to keep as a remembrance from us. (Si tami  nainggit mag-blow)

We only had few visitors, the celebrant's sister, some of our neighbor's yaya with their alaga which is tami's playmates also. We are less than 20 people in the house during that celebration but they enjoy the mini party kasi makukulit din yung ibang yaya.

Tami and her favorite playmate, the baby lives beside our unit.

The simple birthday celebration was a success, may mga take home food pa ang mga yayabels...

Happy Birthday Ne.
Thank you for taking care of Tami and treating her like your sister.
I hope you are enjoying your work with us.

Ferlyn's Famous Tapa

After our spa appointment in Bioessence last Sunday we decided to walk from rfc to our home and while walking, we saw this Ferlyn's tapa house just beside Aling Lucy's Panciteria. Hubby said to try this tapa house sometime. We dont know if its new in the market or what. All we know is we love tapsilog.

Then monday, its the 18th birthday of one of our househelp and i decided to give her a little celebration. I didnt go to work also because i have lots of errands to do like getting documents for the wedding of my cousin in the US, I went to Mary mother church, Philam church and Elizabeth Seton School to complete the requirements. After that (around lunch) hubby texted me that he's on his way home after his workout and he requested a food. What i did was i ordered in Aling Lucy's Panciteria then went to Ferlyn's Famous tapa which is beside Aling Lucy's.

When i was in Ferlyn's, i took some photos for my blog:

The menu board

Aside from the famous tapsilog, porksilog or whatever silog there is, they also offer different food like sisig, adobo, sinigang etc...

View from where i sat while waiting for my take-out order.

The place was quite nice, nothing posh or special but overall it was a clean place. Recommended for a casual eat. Just go there maybe in the late afternoon or early morning because it so hot during noon because the place is non-airconditioned.

Tapsilog is one of all-time favorite of Filipinos for breakfast. Tapsilog consists of tapa (beef strips), Sinangag (fried rice), and itlog (fried egg). Although it is considered as top choice for breakfast, it is commonly sold throughout the day here in the Philippines and is usually served with spicy vinegar or any condiments. Some stores of tapsilog are open 24 hours so you can chow anytime whether its daytime or night time. The price is very affordable also at less than a hundred bucks.

Porksilog for me

Pretty ordinary but i love the taste of their garlic rice.

Tapsilog for hubby..

Hubby's a bit dissapointed with the portion of the tapa. Pero wala ng choice eh kaya kumain na rin sya.

We found the food very average maybe because i was expecting so much more since they're saying its from Don Galo. Actually i dont know what Don Galo has to offer but according to some blogs, Don Galo has the best tapa around the metro.

Id like to give this place another go if i can convince my other half to go back and try other menu.

Facebook's Video Chat

Have you tried video chat in Facebook?

Last night, hubby's cousin Julius together with his wife Anna ping hubby because they want to chat with us. We have Skype account and YM account but we want to try FB's video calling and see how it works.

After hubby downloaded the link, we were amazed of how fast the video chat is.  It is better from the other and is like skype-ing, the good thing is even if you're chatting you can also do things with your fb account. Amazing right?

Julz and Anna lives in Japan and they tied the knot recently. Julz was working in Japan for years already while Anna is a japanese citizen. Weve known Anna since were in college because Julz and Anna were schoolmates and she's also one of the tambay in our computer shop before. And who would think na sila pala ang magkakatuluyan in the end? Love really find its way...

We talked last night until 2am, kamustahan and talk about anything that happens in our lives. We also talked about their plan of going home in April 2012. The plan of going to Boracay with the whole family and their beach wedding here in the Phils.. We also talked about us going to Japan for a vacation. They are inviting us to go there but i told them not now, we'll see next year if we are done with the house. We planned of travelling if we are complete with the things in the house or pag wala ng masyadong gastos.

Anyway back to fb's video chat, i find it more useful than skype because of its fast connection or service. FB really did an amazing job for putting this video chat, sana nga lang ibalik na nila yung dating chatbox.. hehe

Revisiting Bioessence with Hubby

As ive mentioned in my previous post, hubby and i are scheduled at 7PM in Bioessence but since we had our quick dinner in chic-boy, we arrived in the spa a little bit late. Buti na lang mababait yung attendant dun because they waited for us.

Hubby waiting...

While im talking with the attendant, hubby waited in the waiting area. We use again the remaining privilege pass and we upgrade again the service. Hubby got the clarifying facial with diamond peel and we also got the massage. What i liked about here is they give us the privilege to use the executive room because we availed the service and upgrade it.

We just waited in the waiting area while the spa attendant prepare the sauna and the executive room.

Hubby took this picture of me while waiting for our turn.

Actually its my first time to experience the massage in Bioessence because i always go to My Spa because i love their wet amenities and the place is very enticing unlike in Bioessence the place is so plain. When its our turn for the sauna, we were lead at the couple's room for sauna. I was surprised when i saw the room.

According to them, Bioessence sauna is called turkish sauna, in this room, there is like 2 cubicle and at first i dont know what to do because its my first time to see the sauna setup, its like cabinets with a hole in the middle, the couples room obviously is good for 2 person.

I asked one of the staff if she can take a picture while in the sauna, since the room is too small, isa lang ang kasya sa photo, as you can see i was sitting there and parang nakapatong lang yung ulo ko sa cabinet but i liked this sauna because i sweat a lot compared to My Spa. Here in bioessence sauna, grabe para kong sumali sa 10k run sa sobrang dami ng pawis ko. Panalo d2!

i feel relieved having sauna here and we also liked the massage. Definitely we will going back here for another massage session and the sauna.

Have you tried the sauna in Bioessence?

Quick dinner at chic-boy...

Yesterday, i asked hubby if he wants to go with me in Bioessence to have a full body massage, he answered yes but he also wants to have facial and diamond peel. After the conversation, i called Bioessence and set an appointment at 7:00pm. We leave the house at exactly 6:45pm, thinking that we will be going out late after the appointment, we decided to have dinner first at none other than chic-boy. hehe. I texted the Bioessence essence staff that we will arrive late because of our quick dinner.

Its my first time to try chic-boy while hubby is his second time. At 7:00pm, the restaurant was jampacked and the line to the counter was really long, we were thinking of changing restaurant but since its my first time and i wanna try the food, hubby agreed to stay.

I looked at the menu and hubby said that he dont want chicken anymore because the last time that he ate there with his friends, they had the whole chicken for the 3 of them. We just ordered food that looks good in the picture.

After settling to our table, our drinks arrived first.

Iced tea for me...

Coke for hubby..

While waiting, the waiter serve soup first even if were not asking for it. We didnt try the soup kasi parang ma-oil eh ska mukang hindi masarap.. hehe

What i dont like with chic-boy is really the slow service, sobrang tagal dumating nung order namin, siguro marami lang talagang tao. Feeling ko nga mas matagal pa yung pinaghintay namin kesa sa pagkain namin.

Our first order arrived...

Turones con leche...

As the name implies, turones is from the word "turon" and we all know that this is made of banana and we liked it, the caramel is not too sweet. Hubby consumed 4 pcs of it.

Again, we waited for a couple of minutes, nabo-bored na nga si hubby and said na busog na sya sa turones and coke wala pa yung food namin. We have to follow-it up pa bago i-serve..

Cebu Lechon Liempo for Hubby..

He like this because of the sauce not the food itself.. hehe

Liempo for me...

I go for the safe order. Hubby instructed me on how to make sawsawan with the oil to make it tasty because the liempo is so bland that i have to put some sauce para sumarap.

On the other table, may tinuro si hubby. I saw the two guys pouring the orange oil all over their rice. Masarap daw kasi pero oil yun eh, unless gusto na nilang ma-tsugi bells... hehe

Chic-boy is really cheap but you have to be patient waiting for your orders.

Did you know that chic-boy was recently opened for franchising? Last 2010 lang, my cousin franchised chic-boy to be placed in Laguna. Maybe she can give me the details of the franchise soon.

My Home-Made Cheeseburger

You all know that we are on tipid-mode because of our upcoming expenses and being a mommy, we want our family to eat healthy foods right? So what i did, during my grocery time, i decided to buy ingredients for cheeseburger, i want to try a home-made cheeseburger. Its really my first time to do this, looking at a cheeseburger served in local food chains, i think its so easy to make one.

Yesterday morning and this morning, i make cheeseburgers for our household. 5 cheeseburgers to be exact. Yeeeesss.... nanay na nanay ang dating haha...

The ingredients that i bought for my home made cheeseburger:

CDO burger patties

lettuce

Mayonnaise

Hamburger Buns

Aside from these things that i bought, i also have some in the fridge to complete the ingredients of my burger like tomatoes, ketchup and cheese.. Very easy to prepare.

After preparing the ingredients, i cooked and arrange the ingredients to make it presentable...errr... presentation is not really good as the burger king but the taste of my home-made burger is like friday's.. choz!

Hubby on his first burger...

And the other four burgers for all of us.

A little bit messy but really delish...

Tami knows how to compliment me, she said "Mama, sarap ng burger nten" and she want me to make burger for her baon in school. Hay anak sana hindi ka nambobola... hehe

Clarifying Facial at Bioessence

Few weeks ago, our company LOB (line of business) or "Department" to some companies sponsored a massage day in our office for their employees. Aside from that, the Bioessence staff gives privilege pass to those employees who can give referrals and i was able to get 3 privilege pass.

Imagine, sa sobrang busy sa work hindi ko magamit-gamit tong privilege pass ko. This privilege pass has free service. According to the pass, you will choose among the four service that they offer. They are diamond peel, facial, back massage and warts removal.

Last Saturday, i decided to avail one of the service. I called and reserved the 5:30PM slot and have their diamond peel at Las Pinas branch. I was accommodated immediately when I arrived and one of the staff even asked and offer iced tea which I declined since I am still full from the merienda that i have.

I already tried Bioessence before nung hindi pa ko member ng My Spa in Starmall Las Pinas and now im back to Bioessence for the free service. Before doing the session, the attendant assess first my skin and offered something. Actually the privilege pass is not really free, its actually their marketing strategy for you to visit their branch and will offer higher priced service. But its ok to offer their services because maybe they knew what is good to our skin. From the service that they offer, i chose the Clarifying facial that costs P800.00 and they said that the diamond peel is free already because of the pass that i had.

Mary Ann was the one who did my clarifying facial that involves sponging, cleansing, diamond peeling, steaming, facial massaging, pricking of black and white heads, mask, scrubbing and putting vitamin serum. The over-all procedure took about 1.5 hours. Ganun katagal. Overall my experience with Bioessence was a pleasant and I will definitely come again.

Total cost of the Bioessence experience is P900.00 only. P800.00 for the clarifying facial and P100.00 for the tip.

Update...

Because im busy with my work, i almost forgot that i have blog to maintain :( Sorry peeps for not posting, matagal na ba? Parang hindi naman! I have so many stories to tell but so little time like the update in our house, the story revisiting Outback Restaurant in Alabang etc. But since i dont have time anymore and this week will be busy as well, im just posting what happened last weekend, oh i dont go to work now because i have back pain and its also the 18th birthday of one of my yayabels so i instructed her to invite some of her friends in the house and have a little merienda. So this time i will be the yaya. haha

Anyway to start my blog, i want to make kwento about what happened last friday. Hubby thought of scheduling at least once a month inuman session with his agents, its like bonding time for them so imagine the cost and pagod we have during inuman session pero ok lang naman yun, as long as they enjoy going to our small apartment. hehe

But since some of the girls and his other agents dont drink liquor and are not available to go to our house and stay uplate, he decided to treat some at Shakey's Alabang. As of this photo that hubby showed me, he also showed me the cost of his treat. Nagulat daw sya eh, almost 3k daw nagastos nya.. hehe.. Sana daw sa jollibee na lang nya pinakain haha... Kuripot? nah... napaka-generous na tao nyan. Sana lang walang magtampo from his night shift agents.

After his treat to Shakey's, he waited for some of his agents in the house for their session while i was somewhere doing something (will tell on my next post).

Some of his agents..

During that session, we were so happy and keeps on laughing because of one of his agent/friend whose a gay and sobrang makulit. I also joined their inuman session but i only drink light. We became instant friends, i really love GAY people.

Jay-Ar whose also hubby's friend in their company was very open and tells me that he really liked hubby. I was joking and telling him sa kanya na lang si hubby. hehe. My bad! Tanong tuloy ng tanong si hubby kung ayaw ko na ba sa kanya. Ano bey! Palibhasa mga lashing na...

Eto pa, hindi pa gawa ang bahay namin nagiinvite na si hubby. Kaloka!

You can follow me on my twitter because im very active with twitter, tinatamad na nga akong mag-fb and blog. hehe. How's your weekend peeps?

Gastronomic Adventure in Dampa.

Last friday, our team decided to have dinner in Dampa macapagal and also to celebrate our supervisor's birthday. It was planned weeks before and finally natuloy na din.

Some of the team outside the building..

The team goes to Hongkong Lion Paluto and Restobar. Its was the first choice because some of my teammates tried Hongkong Lion before with their previous team and according to them Hongkong lion has private rooms available for team buildings.

Hongkong Lion also caters to wedding, baptism or any special occasions. When we went there, nakar-reserve na yung private room for us. The place is free for 3 hours with free use of videoke. Perfect for those who are planning of team building.

The ground floor of the Hongkong Lion...

As i was said, it was also the birthday celebration of our supervisor so me and the others drop by in Red Ribbon at MOA just to buy cake for our Mudrakels.

Dedication cake from Red Ribbon.. Ang cute no?

The birthday girl...

Our lafang session started after a couple of minutes...

And here's our food:

Dampa will always be seafood haven... We had grilled liempo, chili crabs, buttered shrimps, baked tahong, sinigang sa miso, calamares, grilled tilapia. Did i miss something?

After dining, we had nothing to do but make kulitan in the room. Someone is singing while the others are taking pictures etc... We were so happy that time, sumakit ang tyan ko kakatawa...

Matute Girls... :)

Its always a good bonding for a team to have something like this. We enjoyed our dinner and we also bond with each other.

For those who want to have an idea of how much this team dinner costs us. The total of our food in Hongkong Lion costs P4,800 something, we are a group of 13 people and we share for the expenses. All the food that you see plus softdrinks is included in the P4,800++ except the cake. Sobrang dami pang natira and what's nice is nakapag-uwi pa kami ng food..

Till our next Gastronomic adventure... San naman kaya?
